Let’s Choose Love

Let’s Choose Love

Hey sisters!  I hope you’re all having a beautiful day! Let me know what you think of this post as it wasn’t an easy one to write.  God laid it on my heart to share so here’s to a moment of transparency.  I read recently that vulnerability brings community so here we go!

This phrase has been bouncing around in my heart for months.  God dropped it on me like a bomb one day and I haven’t been able to shake it since. Every time I think about it, I get a lump in my throat because it reminds me of all the times I was and still am sometimes, guilty of it.

He had to dig deep so he could show me that because of the wounds in my own heart, I was projecting poison onto the lives of others.  That’s exactly what criticism creates…poison.  And it doesn’t just poison the person it’s spoken over, it poisons the life of the person speaking it, too.

Side note:  When you pray and ask God to bring impurities to the surface so you can see them and address them…HE WILL ANSWER and it’s not pretty! But these are the things that keep us from moving into deeper relationship with him so it’s not only necessary but it’s worth it!

It’s so important for us to see the real picture, not the idea we’ve created about ourselves that somehow makes us think we have the right to criticize someone else.  Spoiler alert!  We NEVER have the right to criticize another person…even if it’s just “stating the obvious”, even if they got themselves into the mess they’re in and “deserve” it. We must crucify our flesh and choose to pray instead.

Pay attention! While the devil is tempting us to join him in tearing someone down he’s also laughing at us because he knows the rule and is happy to use it against us!  Matthew 7:1-2 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the same way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured back to you.”  GULP! ?

Don’t fall into this trap!!! Don’t let that stupid trickster A. Use you to do his work and B. Use you against yourself! Let’s beat him at his own game!  Let’s repent and be intentional to guard our minds so that when the temptation comes to criticize, we are armed and ready!  Let’s make it a point to speak life so that life is what comes back to us instead of judgement!

*DISCLAIMER* This is not in any way, shape or form easy.  But if you’re serious about changing, God will give you the grace to walk it out.  When you mess up, repent and move on! Eventually it will become second nature to see the beauty in others and to speak it! This truth has brought so much freedom and healing to my life!

Thank you for letting me share my heart with you. We are all in this together. One battle at a time, by the grace of God we will stomp that stupid devil into the ground a little more every day! ??
